As specialists in the assessment of ecosystems for wildlife habitat suitability and capability, Keystone Wildlife Research staff members have conducted wildlife habitat assessments in every region of British Columbia.  We have staff trained in RISC methodologies for Wildlife Habitat Ratings, and they are experienced at conducting habitat assessments for many wildlife species.

During any wildlife habitat assessment project, the appropriate federal, provincial and local managers and biologists are consulted to identify the priority wildlife (species and habitat-types) and other resources in the project area.  These may include ungulate winter ranges, habitat for species-at-risk, rare ecosystems, sites with cultural (e.g. First Nations) value, high-value recreation areas and others.  This information is then incorporated into the project planning and data analysis to produce the most accurate and pertinent results for the project area.
